What I did From Monday to Wednesday at camp (in part)

yes. i went to camp. so did alot of other people.

Anyway, the bus trip there was good because we were really excited. I was sitting next to vincent, which turned out to be a not as bad as I thought it would be.

about 3 hours later, we got to camp.

skip a few things and we found out what tent groups we were in.

i got landed with mitchell, vincent, michael, patrick, sunchit, ben, ronny and alec.

skip a bit more boring stuff and we learnt our leaders.

i got landed with this AWESOMEST New Zealand leader called Turtle. apparently he was called that because when he was little he had a small hump on his back, which only just got removed a few months earlier.

anyway so we did all this awesome stuff…got a ride on a massive zip line (a.k.a. the flying fox), got strapped to a massive chairlift then left to swing in some really massive “granny-pannies” (giant swing), smashed into mangroves in a small boat (canoing), got rope burn while walking on a wire (high ropes, or “Hi!” ropes), slammed into a wall with knobs poking out of it (rock climbing, or rock clim-bing), and won a contest of countries (archery, GO NZ!!!!)

yes.. so it was very cool. sleeping was hard though. some facts i learnt while i was trying to sleep…

-patrick is a very good sleeper (as quoted by mitchell “and patrick can sleep through a bomb raid”)

-vincent sucks at sleeping

- i suck at sleeping

-alec likes to sleep

-mitchell loves talking when everybody else is asleep

-michael likes talking when he is asleep

-sunchit likes sleeping

-ben doesnt really grasp the idea of sleeping

-ronny, well, i dont think i found anything out about him

i actually have to admit, i dont really know why everybody keeps dissing the food. i didnt think it was so bad.

so my favourite thing was the flying fox. it’s awesome to watch your friend whack into trees as you have a great time.

the worst thing was that i dont believe the camp was long enough. half a day, a full day, and another half a day. bit short in my opinion.

oh and the bus trip back was TORTURE. it was sooooo hot, the air conditioning wouldn’t work, and there were no windows to open.

but i thought it was cool. the camp that is, not the temperature in the bus.

oh yes, and when asked “Hey, do you know New Zealand’s fourth most popular folk-parody duo (but you have to say “there’s two of them”)” Turtle almost instantly answered “Well…that must be…Flight of the Conchords!”

me and mitchell high-fived

yes so the camp was really good.

that’s all for now folks!

  1. LOL apparently I sleep like a log.
Chloe said she threw a sock at me and it hit me on the head and I didn’t even move.
I think we were on the same bus on the way back…

  4. We weren’t strapped to a chairlift, you know. It’s called a harness.
I got severe rope burn from the first day. It was strange because I got it during canoeing, our first activity…

  5. *Harness attached to a rope, which in turn is attached to the sloping rope of the Giant Swing. :)
