I’m addicted to Flight of the Conchords.
A folk-parody duo from New Zealand. If you have no idea what in the world I’m talking about, I’ll explain.
They’re from New Zealand, you know that country east of Australia? (Can’t blame you, most of the people I ask don’t kow where it is either) OK, so they’re from New Zealand and they sing novelty songs, like comedy songs. And there’s two of them, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clements.
Their songs are completely genius. They have a TV series on HBO (don’t ask what that is, I think it’s a TV station somewhere) that tells of their (sort of) epic journey of survival in New York (how come everybody knows where that is?). As they make their way through poverty, girlfriends too many to count (three I think) bad luck and a Kiwi band manager. Along they way they break into song as they try to accomplish one goal, to get an audience at their concerts (when they get one).
But in real life their not doing so badly. They get booked out gigs (concerts) and thousands of friends on myspace.
